Todd Paolillo AIA

Associate Principal | Project Architect

Todd has spent nearly 25 years at KAA Design, helping shape many of the firm’s most celebrated and widely published projects as a lead design force alongside the Partners. Recognized as a driving creative voice in the firm and the broader industry, he is known for merging artistry with precision, distilling complex ideas into architecture that is both innovative and enduring.

In addition to his design leadership, Todd mentors the firm’s next generation of talent and plays a key role in guiding the firm’s strategic, marketing, and client initiatives. His collaborative spirit has also fueled partnerships with international design luminaries, as well as with visionary organizations.

Originally from Connecticut, Todd earned both a Bachelor of Architecture and a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Rhode Island School of Design, with a formative year in Rome deepening his appreciation for history and craft. A modernist at his core, he brings a cross-disciplinary approach rooted in early work on traditional residences in Boston—an influence that continues to inform his practice today. His design philosophy reflects a belief in harmony between built form and natural setting, creating architecture that elevates the human experience of place.

Based in Los Angeles, Todd has embraced the unique opportunities of Southern California living, helping to define and proliferate the region’s modern ethos nationally and internationally. His portfolio spans coastal residences to hillside estates, and to his earlier work in hospitality and commercial projects with the Jonathan Beach Club, Gooding & Company, and Playtone Productions.

A licensed architect and member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), Todd has championed KAA’s participation in the Case Study 2.0 Program, advancing sophisticated yet accessible design for the Palisades and Eaton Fire rebuild initiatives. He is also certified by California’s Office of Emergency Services as a Post-Disaster Safety Assessor.

Beyond the studio, Todd finds inspiration outdoors with his dog Joy, often capturing architecture and landscapes through photography and sketching—creative practices that continue to inform and renew his architectural vision.
